The Sweet Life in Paris, by David Lebovitz

David Lebovitz is a pastry chef (formerly of Chez Panisse) and a food writer who authors the most delectable looking cookbooks (I could use his ice cream book for my new ice cream maker, hint hint).

This book is a light confection, comprised of fantastic recipes and thoughts on life as an American in Paris; primarily, what Parisians are like, and what American tourists in Paris are like (gauche!) It's an excellent read for when you have insomnia at 5 am, as it is just pleasant and doesn't require too much thought. It's good at other times of day too.
