Manhood for Amateurs, by Michael Chabon

Finally, a book I don't hate! Seems like it's been a while. This was a copy we got autographed at the signing in New York in October, a fact I was inordinately proud of. It's a series of thoughtful essays on what it means to be a man and have a family. Also, to like comics. It's very warm and loving and intimate; we learn about such family secrets as when his wife almost committed suicide. Yet it's not down or sappy in the least. It's lovely and it made me happy when I read it.

Would it make a good Father's Day gift? Maybe I should send it to my Dad.

Yes, I could totally see it working for that because it's kind of warm and fuzzy and about kids.
